The ShutterCover™ Trim to Fit Whole House Fan Cover
Louvers location: If your air conditioning system’s return air vent is near the whole house fan, hot air is drawn from the attic instead of recirculating air from your home. This makes your furnace and air conditioner work harder, wasting energy. If your thermostat is near the whole house fan, heat radiating from your attic tells the thermostat the house is hotter than it is really is, making your house colder than you want it and increasing your utility bills. If the louvers open when you close a door or when the wind blows, they don't reseal properly.
Never cover ventilation for providing make up and combustion air for gas fired appliances. Obstructing make up and combustion air starves oxygen from gas fired appliances and could result in the production of carbon monoxide which is a poisonous gas.
